From selling tea for livelihood to telling different stories through his books, Lakshman Rao’s journey is all about conscience, passion, hard work and dedication. He always believed that “If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
His passion for books and writing began since he was a child. He uses to read and admire the works of ‘Gulshan Nanda’. With enormous hopes in his heart of becoming a writer, he left his village with merely 40rupees in his pocket and came to Delhi.
But as you know, “Life’s no piece of cake”.He has to struggle a lot to earn his living and simultaneously to get his first book published. He use to sell tea for livelihood and save money to self publish his first book named “Nai Duniya Ki Nai Kahaani” in the year 1979. Since then, he has been on this didactic journey. He has done his M.A in Hindi Literature at the age of 63. His passion of writing provided him with the recognition he is worthy of. He has written over 24 books till now.
Once, then president “Ms. Pratibha Patil” told him “A Diamond always shine despite of being covered in dust” and “Lakshman Rao” has shown this beyond doubt. – Deepali Aggarwal
